Aggretech to be re-named ‘mtu Onsite Energy Systems’

Aggretech, recently purchased as a subsidiary of the specialist for propulsion and power solutions Tognum, is to operate in future under the name of ‘mtu Onsite Energy Systems GmbH’.

Hubert Diener übernimmt als Sprecher die Geschäftsführung von mtu Onsite Energy Systems. Diener war bislang Leiter Sonderfertigung am mtu-Standort Friedrichshafen. Friedrichshafen, 26 June 2012. Aggretech, recently purchased as a subsidiary of the specialist for propulsion and power solutions Tognum, is to operate in future under the name of ‘mtu Onsite Energy Systems GmbH’.   With its takeover in April of the genset manufacturer based in Ruhstorf near Passau, Tognum is to expand its business in the field of distributed power generation and enhance its Onsite Energy product portfolio. For the time being, the products manufactured in Ruhstorf will be traded under the brand name ‘Aggretech by mtu Onsite Energy’.

“The new name ‘mtu Onsite Energy Systems’ highlights the fact that our subsidiary forms an integral and important part of Tognum’s distributed power generation business,” explained Ulrich Kemnitz, Executive Vice-President with responsibility for Tognum’s onsite energy business. “Apart from providing tailor-made solutions, we will also be adding series systems to Tognum’s product portfolio, with assembly of series system diesel gensets based on mtu’s 1600, 2000 and 4000 units shortly to be concentrated in Ruhstorf.”  

“For us, gas gensets are one of the important markets of the future. That is why we will be using system solutions based on both diesel and gas engines to drive forward our distributed power generation business at Ruhstorf,” explained Hubert Diener, head of mtu Onsite Energy Systems. The new plant in Ruhstorf is to manufacture gensets principally configured for 50 Hertz power requirements in Europe, Asia and Africa. With its 250-strong workforce, the Ruhstorf location will be one of the mainstays of Tognum’s technology and production concept, complementing diesel engine series systems and customer-specific solutions from Mankato, gas gensets from Augsburg, power generation systems for project systems business configured in Friedrichshafen, and engine manufacture at the Friedrichshafen, Aiken and Souzhou sites.
