  • Tognum subsidiary L’Orange generates revenue of more than €140 million in 2007
  • Total investment of €16 million in production capacities

Friedrichshafen/Stuttgart, 23 April 2008. The Tognum subsidiary L’Orange GmbH, a specialist for high-pressure injection systems for diesel and heavy-fuel engines based in Stuttgart, doubled its sales revenue in the past four years to more than €140 million in 2007. In order to achieve further growth in the future, L’Orange is investing €16 million in the expansion of its production capacities.

The main reason for the strong increase in revenue is the growth of two of L’Orange’s major customers: the Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen and Wärtsilä. Unit sales of injection systems for MTU Friedrichshafen’s Series 4000 engine have tripled in the past four years. A good ten years ago, the Series 4000 high-speed diesel engines were the first large diesel engines with common-rail injection technology, which is now already being applied in the second generation. Electronically controlled high-pressure fuel injection is one of the key technologies for diesel engines with low emissions and fuel consumption. For the customer Wärtsilä, L’Orange primarily supplies heavy-fuel injection systems for medium-speed engines and dual-fuel systems for heavy fuel or gas operation.

In order to further expand the business with ultra-modern common-rail injectors, additional production capacities will be created in Glatten in Germany’s Black Forest region by the beginning of 2009. L’Orange is investing approximately €8 million in the expansion of its production space and an additional €8 million in the creation of new production equipment in both Glatten and the plant in Wolfratshausen.
