Princess Yachts to use Tognum engines

Tognum’s Engines business unit and British luxury yacht builder Princess Yachts International have recently concluded negotiations for a new framework agreement on the supply of mtu Series 2000 engines during the period of 2009 through 2012.

Friedrichshafen, October 6, 2008. Tognum’s Engines business unit and British luxury yacht builder Princess Yachts International have recently concluded negotiations for a new framework agreement on the supply of mtu Series 2000 engines during the period of 2009 through 2012. This will result in a 100 percent increase in Tognum’s annual revenues with Princess Yachts compared with previous years. the agreement covers the total supply of more than 700 engines.

The new agreement, which is being processed through the Tognum subsidiary MTU UK, demonstrates the growing synergies between premium brands mtu and Princess Yachts. “Princess Yachts’ confidence in mtu products also shows that mtu continuously implements technological innovations that guarantee Princess customers a maximum of performance combined with the best possible emission levels”, stated Rainer Breidenbach, Member of the Tognum Board of Management for the Engines business unit.

The high-speed Series 2000 diesel engines produced by Tognum’s mtu brand have 8, 10, 12 or 16 cylinders and deliver 895 to 1890 kilowatts power output (1200 to 2570 horsepower). With mtu-engines installed, Princess yachts will reach speeds in excess of 40 Knots.
