Rolls-Royce Power Systems is supporting Europe's top football tournament for young players
1 December 2024. After winning through the quarter-finals (Chelsea FC, 5:2), semi-finals (Borussia Dortmund, 1:0) and final (Olympique Marseille, 4:1), the VfB Stuttgart U15 team were able to hold up the mtu-Cup. What does mtu have to do with one of Europe's best indoor football tournaments for young people? The answer is that mtu launched the mtu-Cup together with local clubs.

World-famous football clubs are among the participants each year in the mtu Cup, one of the most important youth indoor football tournaments in Europe, organised by VfB Friedrichshafen. This year, the 20th anniversary of the tournament was held from 30 November to 1 December in exhibition hall A1 in Friedrichshafen. Participants included FC Barcelona (Spain), Manchester United and Chelsea FC (both from England), Olympique Marseille (France), PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands), NK Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt (all from Germany). The line-up was completed by FC Dallas (USA), S.E. Palmeiras SP (Brazil), Sudeva Delhi FC (India) and BK West United FC (Gambia), representing the Americas, Asia and Africa. They were joined by local clubs from the Friedrichshafen region. These clubs have been part of the mtu Cup from the very beginning and were the inspiration behind its creation.

For Dr Jörg Stratmann, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, the mtu Cup is ‘a highlight in the calendar every year’. As the sponsor and namesake of the mtu Cup, Rolls-Royce Power Systems places particular emphasis on promoting young talent and imparting values. Respect, fairness, team spirit, discipline and responsibility are values that enable trusting cooperation in both private and business life. Stratmann is therefore pleased ‘to present the mtu Fairness Cup at this year's awards ceremony – an award that will be presented to mark the 20th anniversary of the mtu Cup.

’Rolls-Royce Power Systems has been supporting the mtu Cup since the very beginning of the tournament, which was launched around 20 years ago to provide a competitive platform for the mtu high-performance centre for young footballers in Friedrichshafen. In addition to the highly qualified training provided by the mtu high-performance centre, which is in addition to local club training, the mtu Cup gives young footballers the opportunity to compete against international football greats..
