Friedrichshafen, Germany – Rolls-Royce Power Systems has presented Supplier Awards to its best vendors in 2017, including – for the first time – bronze, silver and gold awards. A total of 12 suppliers won accolades for their high standards of quality. “In order to reward suppliers who would otherwise have missed out by a small margin on getting an award, we are – for the first time – awarding prizes to runners-up in second and third place in each category this year,” said Alexander Dangel, Vice President, Purchasing at Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

Awards were presented in the following categories: EU Finished Parts, US Finished Parts and Best Semi-Finished Parts Worldwide. One company also received the Innovation Prize. Subsidiary L'Orange handed over gold and silver awards to its best component suppliers.

Gold in the category EU Finished Parts went to Federal Mogul Friedberg, who has been supplying the company for many years with piston rings for classic engines and for the mtu Series 4000. Best supplier in the newly introduced category US Finished Parts was Winsert from the US state of Wisconsin, who supplies valve seat inserts for mtu Series 4000 natural gas and diesel engines. Fronberg Guss from Schwandorf, Bavaria won the award for Best Supplier of Semi-Finished Products Worldwide. The company supplies crankcases and oil pans. Last year, Poppe + Potthoff from the Westphalian town of Werther were hailed as best up-and-coming supplier, and went on to scoop this year's Innovation Award. Heinrich Eibach won the Supplier Award as best component supplier to RRPS subsidiary L'Orange. The family-run business from North-Rhine Westphalia supplies springs for injectors and pumps made by L’Orange for the mtu Series 4000. “Heinrich Eibach has proven to be a reliable collaboration partner since 1975. We are delighted to crown this partnership with our Gold Supplier Award,” said Steffen Dölker, Vice President, Purchasing at L'Orange.

To receive a Supplier Award, vendors have to secure top points in the categories of Quality, Cost, Delivery Reliability, Commitment to Protecting the Environment, and Integrity of Conduct. “These awards are one way of motivating our suppliers to continue to provide outstanding service in future,” said Alexander Dangel. “To be fit for the future, we need partners we can rely on and who have the same attitude to quality as we do.”
