ROLLS-ROYCE POWER SYSTEMS DISBANDS 55 GRADUATES

• Apprentices and cooperative state university graduates complete their training
• Four accolades for outstanding achievements

Friedrichshafen. 55 students and apprentices have now successfully completed their training at Rolls-Royce Power Systems and its subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen. After three years of learning in technical and business subjects, they have now been awarded their certificates.   

Steffen Besserer, head of personnel development, congratulated the graduates, emphasizing the increasingly international character of the training courses. "We are very pleased to see that it is possible for us to send more and more apprentices and cooperative state university students on assignments abroad to prepare them for work in a global context," he said.

Linus Kesenheimer, Raphael Schupp, Paul Weber and Christoph Kempter all completed their apprenticeships with 'A' grades, and were awarded a special accolade for their achievements by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in the Lake Constance-Upper Swabia region. In his speech, Thomas Bittelmeyer, head of the Works Council, encouraged the graduates to accept the challenges that the future would bring: "Working life is also about building on your strengths, being able to recognize your weaknesses, and, above all, developing your own personality," he said.

23 industrial mechanics make up the majority of the 55 graduates. Also included are seven mechatronics technicians, three technical product designers, two management assistants for office communication, with additional qualifications in foreign languages, an occupational health and safety expert, and an electronics technician specializing in automation. All of these apprentices completed their training in July. At the end of September, 18 bachelor students from various branches of study at the Cooperative State University ranging from design and development to international business, also completed their training at Rolls-Royce Power Systems.   

"All graduates were offered a contract, and 39 accepted. 16 chose to pursue courses of higher study or to work for an entrance qualification to a university of applied science, and these 16 also received a promise of reemployment from the company," said head of training Martin Stocker. At its Friedrichshafen location alone, Rolls-Royce Power Systems is currently training a total of 340 junior workers in various vocations and branches of study.
