ROLLS-ROYCE TO SHOWCASE mtu TECHNOLOGY FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY AT ADIPEC 2016

Rolls-Royce will be presenting current mtu power and propulsion solutions for onshore and offshore oil and gas applications on booth #6330 at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) from November 7 – 11 in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY/ABU DHABI, UAE – Rolls-Royce will be presenting current mtu power and propulsion solutions for onshore and offshore oil and gas applications on booth #6330 at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) from November 7 – 11 in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. ADIPEC is one of the most important trade shows for the oil and gas industry worldwide. Rolls-Royce will showcase scale models of the mtu Electric Drilling Package (EDP) for the generation of electricity for onshore drilling rigs and of a Series 4000-based genset for use on oil drilling platforms. mtu will also present its enhanced service network in the Middle East which supports customers in the region during the whole life cycle of the products. The mtu brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

The mtu Electric Drilling Package is a solution for operators of drilling rigs. It combines a generator set based on a 12V 4000 G73/G23 type engine with a radiator and control panel on a common base frame. The 12V 4000 G73 type engine is capable of a mechanical output of 1,105 kW (1,482 bhp) plus 10% overload capability at 1,200 rpm while the 12V 4000 G23 type engine produces 1,420 kW (1,903 bhp) plus 10% overload capability 1,500 rpm.

The mtu genset based on a 16V 4000 P03 type engine with 12, 16 and 20 cylinders is optimised for offshore operations. The engine model on display produces an electrical output of 1,860 kW (2,494 bhp) to 2,150 (2,883 bhp) at 1,800 rpm. All mtu engines offer industry-leading reliability and fuel economy as well as long maintenance intervals.
