The new ace among yacht engines: 10V 2000 CR from mtu

World premiere of best yacht engine in its class attracts much attention

"Let the ace among yacht engines cast its spell on you. Here it is - the new 10V 2000 Common Rail." With these words, Dr. Rolf A. Hanssen gave the green light for the presentation of the best yacht engine in its class at the moment.

Together with his board co-members Dr. Gerd-Michael Wolters and Peter Grosch, the President and CEO of the Board of Management of MTU Friedrichshafen and Head of Daimler-Chrysler Off-Highway welcomed numerous customers, journalists and representatives of the trade to unveil the engine at the mtu stand in Hall 9. Dr. Hanssen emphasized the company´s role as an innovative force, for which the new engine series once again provides a typical example: "What we demand of ourselves is simply to build the best engine in its class. And it must be so good that it will still be the best even in a few years from now." Before the engine was unveiled, the Board of Management presented the new engine series to the international trade press.

And in fact, the new 2000 Common Rail marine engines, 2000 CR in short, set new standards. The use of state-of-the-art technologies makes them smaller, lighter, more powerful, more efficient and cleaner than their predecessors of Series 2000. The basic concept as well as the key technologies (turbocharging, injection and electronics) have been newly or further developed. 2000 CR engines are to gradually replace the previous Series 2000. The 8V and 10V versions will be built from summer 2004, followed by 12V and 16V engines as of 2005.

Before the engine was unveiled at the mtu stand, the Board of Management informed the international trade press about the new 2000 CR series.

Yachts and megayachts with mtu propulsion

As with every "Boot" fair, some yachts are on display whose builders and owners swear by mtu propulsion systems; among them are the Italian yacht builder group "Azimut-Benetti", one of the two largest yacht shipyards in Italy besides Ferretti.
