NOVI, Mich. – Rolls-Royce will feature its advanced mtu Series 2000 M96L yacht engines at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to be held Nov. 1 – 5, 2017. mtu’s booth will showcase all three of the Series 2000 M96L EPA T3R engine configurations – the 10V,12V and 16V – in Engine Tent 1212/1215. The mtu brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

mtu will also display the updated Joystick Control System, which now features Heading Hold capability. This new functionality caters to kite fisherman requiring a controlled boat drift for natural bait presentation.

Andrew Boyer, senior sales manager for marine applications at mtu America, said: “The Series 2000 engine platform has proven itself for 20 years in the sport fishing market. This experience, combined with customer feedback, created the foundation of our product design approach and has led to the benefits realized across all cylinder configurations of the Series 2000 M96L. These clean and quiet engines are also complimented by the new Heading Hold feature on our Joystick Control system. The mtu package ensures sportsfishermen aren’t burdened by their equipment and provides them the freedom to focus on their next big catch.”

The mtu Series 2000 M96L engine

mtu’s 10V Series 2000 M96L delivers 1,361 to 1,600 bhp and meets the requirements of the EPA Tier 3 emissions standard for recreational craft, filling a niche void for many fisherman-focused vessels like the new Bayliss GameBoat from Bayliss Boatworks. The Bayliss GameBoat is the direct response to customer requests for a streamlined, durable and well-built sportfishing vessel.

The Series 2000 M96L continues mtu’s long tradition of building high performance yacht engines that are reliable and efficient. The M96L features enhanced acceleration characteristics, quiet operation and low fuel consumption. The 12-cylinder and 16-cylinder versions offer power ranges from 1,700 to 1,920 bhp and 2,185 to 2,600 bhp, respectively. Thanks to their marine-specific design and compact dimensions, mtu engines offer exceptional power-to-weight ratios and continue to rank among the industry’s most cutting-edge yacht propulsion systems.

mtu Pininfarina Series

The mtu Pininfarina Series is a new design option available for the BlueVision New Generation automation system. The mtu Pininfarina Series features a set of four bridge components that combine German engineering with an iconic design of the Italian master designer Pininfarina.

The new design line concentrates on four bridge components: a control lever for clutch and engine speed control which is shaped like an engine rod,   a tableau panel for engine control, a high resolution touch display for monitoring of the propulsion plant as well as analog instruments for engine speed, pressure and temperature.
