FRIEDRICHSHAFEN/GERMANY, MILAN/ITALY – From 21 to 23 June 2016, Rolls-Royce will be showcasing its portfolio of power generation solutions at the Power-Gen Europe Exhibition in Milan (Stand 3HD97). Products from Rolls-Royce and mtu Onsite Energy include high-speed and medium-speed diesel and gas gensets ranging from 24 to 9,400 kWe. The brand mtu Onsite Energy is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
Matthias Vogel, Vice President Power Generation at Rolls-Royce Power Systems said: “At Power-Gen 2016, we will be showcasing our entire range of high-speed and medium-speed gas and diesel gensets, which we supply from a single source and deliver worldwide from our regional centres. Our advanced products are designed to generate load-balancing energy and, due to their accredited capabilities, help to maintain the frequency and voltage stability of the grid. Using them, customers are able to make a valuable contribution to providing a reliable supply of energy and to the energy transition.”
Rolls-Royce experts will be attending the Power-Gen conference to report on such topics as ‘Intelligent Load Balancing supports Grid Stability’ and ‘Requirements for Combined Heat and Power Systems demanded by the European Grid Code’.
At Power-Gen Europe 2016, mtu Onsite Energy is presenting its product portfolio for high-speed gas engine systems up to 2,530 kWe and diesel gensets up to 3,250 kWe. The exhibition stand will include a model of a gas genset based on mtu Series 4000 engines. The heat and power generating systems produce 1,010 to 2,530 kWe and are available in 8, 12, 16 and 20 cylinder configurations.
A model of a 20-foot container genset that has been included in the mtu Onsite Energy product portfolio since 2015 will also be on show. Based on the new generation of Series 2000 engines, the genset is fitted with a common rail injection system. The Series 2000 engines are designed to cover an output range of up to 1,120 kWe for standby power and deliver up to 1,000 kWe prime and continuous power. As a result of its modular design, the 20-foot container genset can be used in a wide variety of applications.
Distributed power plant solutions from mtu Onsite Energy meet continuous power generation, emergency and peak generation requirements. They perform a critical function in special-purpose applications such as airports, hospitals and computer centers and can also be used as base and peak load power supply plants.
The medium-speed diesel and gas-powered gensets of Rolls-Royce cover a range from 3,700 to 9,400 kWe, while complete power plants from 2 MWe to 200 MWe and beyond can be configured for power generation or Combined Heat and Power (CHP) operation. At Power-Gen Europe 2016, Rolls-Royce is showcasing a model genset based on the 20-cylinder, Type B35:40 gas engine. Electricity generation systems based on these gensets are in operation in greenhouses and power plants in the Czech Republic, Holland, Mozambique and the UK. Their proven technology, high levels of availability and low operating costs mean that these engines are popular with operators around the world. Their robust construction and superior electrical efficiency ratings of up to 48.5% are particularly important features. Typical applications include base-load generation for electricity providers; grid load-balancing and peak-load supply; combined heat and power generation; combined heat, power and cooling plants; emergency power and mechanical drive power in the oil and gas industry.
