Friedrichshafen, 25 June 2010. Tognum, the specialist for propulsion and power solutions, and Zeppelin University have become travel companions. Volker Heuer, Tognum CEO, recently handed over two ‘smart’ cars in Tognum’s corporate colors to Professor Stephan A. Jansen, President of Zeppelin University. The sponsorship initiative sees the continuation of the Tognum Group’s regional involvement.
“As a large publicly traded company in the Lake Constance region, we take our responsibility toward society seriously and support the local universities to the utmost of our abilities” said Volker Heuer during the handover ceremony. “With Tognum and Zeppelin University, two innovative partners are joining forces, who, despite their international focus, are firmly rooted in the Lake Constance region.”
The vehicles will be used to provide a link between Zeppelin University’s four Friedrichshafen locations. “Universities are special places – intellectual homes and special environments for the brightest minds. When a university has to spread out, then it needs smart mobility provided by an intelligent sponsor, who is aware that the true driving force of the knowledge society is education,” said Jansen. “We are very grateful that Tognum has also shown itself to be such a driving force for ZU“.
In addition to Zeppelin University, Tognum in Friedrichshafen also supports the Friedrichshafen Campus of the second major educational institution in the region, the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, Ravensburg. The specialist for propulsion and power solutions is sponsoring a team of students which is building its own racing car to compete in the `Formula Student´ design competition against universities from all over the world.
