Taiwan’s navy has placed an order with Tognum subsidiary MTU Asia for 90 Series 4000 large diesel engines. Over the course of its 4-year supply term, the contract will earn the Tognum Group around €80 million. Rainer Breidenbach, Board Member at Tognum AG and Chief Executive at MTU Friedrichshafen responsible for Distribution and After Sales, confirmed that “winning a contract in this economically vital region is a significant achievement, especially as the reliability of mtu’s engines played an important role in the customer’s decision”. Each of the 180-tonne patrol vessels will be fitted with a propulsion system powered by mtu’s 16-cylinder Series 4000 engines and monitored by mtu systems.
